Cambodia is a small country with a lot of history. The former seat of one of Asia’s most magnificent civilizations can be found at Angkor, where the ruins of the mighty Khmer Empire who’s temples are the foundation of the national identity of Cambodians and attract millions of visitors every year.Away from the temples, most of the country is relatively tourist free and unexplored. The quietly charming towns and cities are delightful in their old fashioned charm. The countryside plays host to memorable landscapes such as the Mekong River and Tonje Sap Lake as well as the remote forest highlands of the Rattanakiri, Mondulkiri and Cardamom Mountains. In the south the coast plays host to idyllic beaches and picture perfect islands.
Cambodians are some of the warmest and friendliest people in Asia in essentially a rural society where living conditions are extremely basic. Consisting of life which has changed little over time amid a patchwork of rice paddies and sugar palms.
